Civilian Led Policing Internships

The Civilian Led Policing organization is currently accepting applications for the 2017 Fall Semester. The role of intern within the Civilian Led Policing organization is unique as it will give you the opportunity to play an integral role in the operations of the organization. Internships are unpaid, although it may provide you an opportunity to get college credits at your university (for current college students). As an intern, you will operate digitally from home and will be able to set a schedule that works for you.

The following are the two types of internships we currently have available:

Operations Intern

The Operations Team of Civilian Led Policing could use hard working interns to assist with various parts of the organization’s Operations. Depending on the Intern’s experiences, interests, and knowledge, we will be able to apply them to various parts of our Operations.

The Intern will be responsible for tasks including:

  • Assisting CLP Staff with official Outreach efforts.
  • Assisting CLP Staff with the Volunteer Onboarding process.
  • Organizing national volunteer teams.
  • Assisting CLP Staff with the development of local organizing efforts.
  • Research into elected officials, candidates, organizations, local culture, legislation, history, statistics that support claims, and overseeing the volunteer research team.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Current college student or recent graduate.
  • Strong interest in organizing, government, and non profit operations.
  • Research skills.
  • Good listening skills. We want people who are open minded.

Digital Intern

The Digital Team of Civilian Led Policing could use hard working interns to assist with various parts of the organization’s Digital efforts. Depending on the intern’s experiences, interests, and knowledge, we will be able to apply them to various parts of our Digital efforts.

The Intern will be responsible for tasks including:

  • Assisting CLP staff with creating and writing content for social media.
  • Searching for relevant media articles for the organization to respond to or share.
  • Assisting CLP staff with social media outreach, including sharing our content in various groups.
  • Writing articles, press releases, and emails for the organization.
  • Maintaining our email and volunteer lists.
  • Website development and maintenance.*
  • Graphic Design for Social Media and other Operations.*

Knowledge and skills:

  • Experience with a wide variety of social media platforms.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Helpful to have some experience with wordpress and simple html/css/javascript.*
  • Helpful to have some experience and skill with graphic design.*
  • Good listening skills. We want people who are open minded.

(Note: Responsibilities with a * next to them are tasks only required for those with the relevant knowledge)
